Spectral Spirits are in the air!

In addition to being featured on Pick Six – MINNESOTA COMPOSERS for Star of the North’s Fall 2023 issue, excerpts from this 30 minute elegy to extinct bird species based on poetry by Holly J Hughes are appearing on concerts throughout the country. In April of this year, Stare at the Sun performed Passenger Pigeon and in June, Eskimo Curlew was offered by the Harmonium Choral Society. In February 2024, the William Ferris Chorale is slated to perform Carolina Parakeet, Eskimo Curlew, and Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. Finally, this coming weekend the Dallas-based Verdigris Ensemble will include Prelude: These Birds, Passenger Pigeon, and Eskimo Curlew on the program of their innovative The Endangered concert series. 

Spectral Spirits was commissioned, premiered and recorded by The Crossing, Donald Nally, conductor.
