Under the direction of Katherine FitzGibbon, Portland-based Resonance Ensemble will offer the west coast premiere of Spectral Spirits as part of their “For the Birds” concert on January 31, 2027 in Portland. Resonance Ensemble will also be the first choir since The Crossing (who commissioned and premiered the work in 2019) to offer a complete performance of the entire piece.

Rose, photography by naturalist Ethan Allred, Edie Hill’s poignant masterwork Spectral Spirits—a tribute to endangered and extinct birds, alongside works by Caroline Shaw and others, The program explores birdsong, migration, and the fragile interconnectedness between humans and the ecosystems we inhabit.”
